Professional Presence 1

Friday, April 30, 2010 - 10:41 PM

Today, we had our very first lesson on Professional Presence 1.

During lecture, everyone was so excited about this new module. The "OHs" and "AHs" filled the whole theatre. When we were told to buy a formal suit, everyone started to mumble among themselves.

Professional Presence 1 teaches us about Grooming standards- how to look professional in suits and how should our suits be worn. When we heard about all the "rules and regulations", there goes our "Oo" and "Ah" once again.

I believe that this topic is definitely useful to each and everyone of us, especially for our course because we are from Hospitality and Tourism!
It creates a long lasting impression and the very first impression that we leave behind.

My first Impression

Monday, April 19, 2010 - 3:11 PM

It was the first week of school and it was also my first Business Etiquette and Service Excellence (BESE) lesson.

Before starting on this module, I heard from seniors and tutors about this module. I still remember that during my first semester in TP, I always see seniors wearing full formal attire, from blazer to high-heels, in my mind, I was wondering which course needs to wear this attire.

When I heard about this module, I was looking forward to it. Once heard from a tutor, that this module will teach us about "Man-die-first" policy, where gentleman needs to walk up an escalator last so that he could grab hold of the lady in front of him when she accidentally trips. It was so interesting and I did not know this was so, because in my daily life, none of the gentlemen in my class did this before!

Firstly, let me introduce my tutor.
My tutor is Ms Angeline Chin. She is tall, very elegant and I like her smile! She was the advisor of HTMIG too!

The first topic of this module is Professional Presence 1.
Although this module is a long module of 3 hours every friday, it interests me a lot, with the business facts that we do not usually get involved in and how do we present ourselves in front of your boss or guests.
